Scholarships
We recognize that the costs associated with attending practice events at temples like Sanshin are a challenge for some practitioners. In order to help make participation possible, Sanshin makes scholarship funding available to qualified practitioners through an application and award process. Applying for scholarship funds does not guarantee an award.
Applications are reviewed by Sanshin’s Scholarship Committee and awards are made on a quarterly basis. Application deadlines are March 1, June 1, September 1 and December 1. Please allow enough time before your proposed event to complete the application and review process; some events sell out months in advance. If your application is approved, you will receive notification and special instructions about how to register for your event. Please do not register and pay for your event before being notified that you have received a fund award. You will not be reimbursed for fees already paid.
Scholarship funds are obtained through the generosity of practitioners and other donors desiring to help those unable to pay practice event fees. Please apply for a scholarship only if you have a financial need that would otherwise prevent you from attending a program. It's certainly possible to apply for partial funding if you're able to pay only some of the fee for a practice event. Applying only for the funds you really need makes it possible for others to receive assistance as well.
