Dear friend of Sanshin Zen Community:

This spring has been a very exciting time for Sanshin Zen Community.  In the last few months, Issan Koyama completed his shuso ango at Sanshin, Okumura Roshi conducted another enriching virtual genzo-e, we inaugurated a program for residential practice, and held our first jukai-e ceremony in three years. We are able to do all of this work while continuing to facilitate daily practice opportunities and produce new and exciting educational materials through Dogen Institute.

Because of your support, Sanshin is a thriving dharma community. However, there is still much more we can do together!

We’re anticipating another active year ahead.  Sanshin is deeply engaged in preparing for the national celebration of the 100th anniversary of Soto Zen in North America.  We are also planning for succession as Vice Abbot Hoko Karnegis assumes day to day leadership of Sanshin next year and Okumura Roshi continues to produce new works.

In order to sustain and build on our efforts, we need to continue to support our clergy and staff, maintain a residence for the Okumura family, and repair and upgrade our facilities.

You can participate today with your gift of financial support to Sanshin Zen Community. We’re aware that not everyone is able to give in this way.  Your practice itself is a compassionate offering. However, if you are able to donate funds your generosity will go a long way toward to sustaining our sangha over the long-term.

While one-time financial gifts are always welcome, please also consider a monthly contribution. This is the most convenient way to give; your donation is automatically transferred from your credit card or bank account, and you can change or cancel at any time. It also makes our income more predictable and reduces our costs, and a greater portion of your gift goes directly to Sanshin.

We’re grateful for the role you’ve played in helping us re-open our doors less than one year ago and rebuild our community and practice.  It’s a precious gift to practice together and share the dharma with one another as we navigate this challenging world together.

Thank you for being part of our global sangha.
