OUR INTERCONNECTED PRACTICE

11/22/2020

Picture
Here's a visual representation of the connections between the components of Sanshin's style of practice.  The Three Treasures, the three categories of the elements of the Eightfold Path and the three parts of Sanshin's mission intersect and give rise to the three aspects of Uchiyama Roshi's shikantaza.  Understanding the interconnections between these rings helps us both to include all three in our practice lives and to remain clear and focused on the style of practice we've chosen to carry out.

Sanshin's Japan Connections

11/8/2020

Sanshin network member Issan Koyama gave this talk a week ago on the connections he found and experienced in Japan between Sanshin and its style of practice and some temples and teachers there.  You can find this and many other Sunday dharna talks on Sanshin's YouTube channel.

    WHAT IS THE SANSHIN STYLE?

In this lineage we look to a core group of principles and elements that make up the backbone of our particular style of practice—that in which we ourselves engage and the practice in which we lead others.  These come from the teachings of the Buddha, Dogen Zenji, Uchiyama Roshi and Okumura Roshi.  Learn more here.
